TRANSFORMERS, The lights of tujac

2009, Les Treize Arche. Brive la Gaillarde, Francia.

(TRANSFORMA “”The lights of tujac) Photographic series in various advertising formats.

The work Transformers “les lumières de tujac” is the result of an art residency in the city of Brive la Gaillarde, France. The project was realized in collaboration with the Municipality in partnership with Les Treize Arches. A creative workshop was implemented with the community of Tujac, a population stigmatized for hosting mostly immigrants with low socioeconomic resources, the challenge was to work around the problems of integration of the community and on the dreams and aspirations of individuals and each of the participants.

The community actively participated in the project, and the workshop proposed the construction of their own Super Heroes costumes, using waste and recycled materials. Once made, each of the participants put on their costumes to be photographed. The images of the super heroes were turned into advertising posters that were installed on public transportation, bus stops and advertising pallets, advertised as if it were a movie release or a big event, accompanying the images with the phrase: TRANSFORMA “las luces de tujac” (the lights of tujac).
